Our People- Are an amalgamation of graphic designers, art directors, editors, compositors, programmers, project managers and proof readers. It is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world wanting to learn more about it and the ancient, rational and universal technique of Vipassana meditation. The General Manager, supported by an appropriate team of assistants will be responsible for all aspects of the administration of the Global Pagoda Complex.

Job Description : Responsibilities :
Under the direct supervision of the Trustees of the Global Vipassana Foundation, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:
- Preparation of budget.
- Provide guidance, support and supervision to administrative support staff.
- Supervise the construction activities at the site.
- Organize and supervise effective visitor management at the site.
- Interviewing candidates for job openings and evaluation of candidates.
- Attending meetings of the Foundation and drafting reports setting forth its observations, conclusions and recommendations.
Competencies :
• Personal Qualities :
The right candidate, while may or may not be a Vipassana mediator, will have a spiritual bent of mind without addiction to any type of intoxicants.
• Professionalism:
Demonstrated knowledge of budgetary management and ability to prepare substantive proposals and reports, as well as to monitor, coordinate and communicate information and provide advice effectively to the Trustees of the Global Vipassana Foundation.
Proven competence, integrity and reliability in implementing assigned tasks.
• Communication:
Speaks and writes clearly and effectively;
Possesses the soft skills required to deal with the various types of people who visit the site.
Has the ability to tailor one’s language, tone, style and format to match the audience;
• Leadership:
Provides leadership and demonstrates knowledge of strategies and commitment to the vision and goals set forth by the trustees of the Global Vipassana Foundation
Empowers others to translate vision into results;
Proactive in developing strategies to accomplish objectives;
Establishing and maintaining relationships with a broad range of people to understand needs and gain support;
Anticipate and resolve conflict by pursuing mutually agreeable solutions.
• Decision making:
Ability to identify the key issues in a complex situation;
Take appropriate decisions after gathering relevant information and in consultation with the trustees of the Global Vipassana Foundation. Propose a course of action or makes a recommendation based on all available information to the Trustees on important matters.
• Managing performance:
Ability to delegate the appropriate responsibility and accountability; Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clear to each staff member.
Desirable :
Thorough knowledge of the financial regulations, rules and administrative procedures of the Government of Maharashtra / Municipal Corporations is highly desirable but is not a requisite.
Qualifications
Education :
Postgraduates in the field of management. Graduation in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a post-graduate university degree.
Work Experience : Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible work experience, at least five years of which should be at a senior level in :
managing civil construction projects (including commercial and civil aspects)
or
managing an industrial/ amusement/ exhibition park/monument (including good understanding of security, maintenance and communication aspects).
Languages :
For the post advertised fluency in oral and written English is essential.
Knowledge of Hindi/Marathi is highly desirable.
